Children that were 'half-caste' were taken away from their families because at the time the white people thought it was a good idea, they were taken to camps and missionaries around the state. From there they were taught to speak english, clean, wash themselves, eat properly and to be Christian. A good movie to watch is Rabbit Proof fench.
