How were things resolved in touching spirit bear?

peter beats cole up and cole refuses to fight back and then peter starts to cry and cole talks to him then hugs him and then they see the spirit bear and wheb they get back 2 camp they sleep and in the morning cole goes to the pond and turns around before starting off and finds peter carving his totem pole and says that jerk! and comes back to find peter actually making a new bear out of the one he destroys and then he says let's fill the blank space so then they make a circle and garvey asks y a circle and peter says because its all I could teach him to make :) and cole says I'm a slow learner :') I love this book
