I think that Desmond is back on the Island and in the alternate reality he knows things the other passengers of Oceanic Flight 815 don't, and he will obviously enlighten them to what he knows. The effects of that? They will all remember what was meant to happen and they will flash like Desmond did and we will see Jack's eye and he will wake up in the jungle and they will all end up back where they started, because it was meant to be. Like they have said from the start, "Whatever happened, happened" and it happened for a reason.
