it depends what sort of person they are really: some might be upset and concerned, some might laugh and some might just ignore it, you have to consider what the person is like.

If you need crutches from a permanent physical disability, you can still choose to go to high school. However, there are many other options if you have a lot of trouble getting around. For example, cyber school or home school would probably be a lot easier.
