yes, it does have an app for netflix. you can use it to watch shows streaming on netflix from your phone, but it seems the stability is rated a little low.

You can't get Netflix through DirecTV, but you can get Netflix through another device such as an Xbox, Roku, or Apple TV, and stream it through your normal TV. DirecTV does have ON Demand which has over 9000 movie titles and tv shows.
