How will the boys be different after their experiences in Lord of the Flies?

At the end of the book Ralph wept for the end of innocence, the darkness in man's heart and for the death of Piggy. At the start of the book Ralph was so filled with joy at the prospect of being on a tropical island that he stood on his head with pure pleasure. he told the other boys that it was a good island. Unfortunately for Ralph his naivety and tendency to believe that other people were as genuinely fair and honest and as good as himself was brought to Earth with a crash. Ralph witnessed at first hand the death of Piggy and participated in the feverish, nightmare assault of Simon that resulted in his death. Ralph was hunted and was in genuine fear for his own life. Ralph knew the depths to which boys (and by extrapolation, any human) could sink and for the rest of his life he would have to live with that knowledge. Standing on his head wasn't something that he'd do a lot of in his future.

Samneric were essentially good natured boys but rather shallow. They would probably have managed best of all the boys to dismiss the entire experience from their minds and lead a relatively normal life. If two boys with such a strong attachment to each other could ever be said tio lead a normal life.

Many of the littluns would have needed medical attention for malnutrition and a variety of other physical ailments. No doubt mental problems would have arisen later in many of their lives.

Percival Wemys Madison would probably have need psychiatric help for a long period to help him deal with the intense trauma he had undergone. It is doubtful if he would ever have fully recovered.

Presumably Jack and some of his 'henchmen' would be held to account for their parts in the killings and violence which occurred on the island. Sent to an approved school Jack would quickly have established himself as a violent bully to be feared, ably assisted by Maurice and Robert. Later he might have been expected to have been a major player in the criminal underworld.

Roger, having tasted the power and pleasure to be experienced from torturing and killing would no doubt have joined Jack and the others in an approved school. He is likely to have kept a low profile, hurting those he could when the opportunity arose. Years later he would probably have been put on trail as a serial killer.

The boys in Lord of the Flies likely experience a loss of innocence and a realization of their own capacity for violence and cruelty. They may also have a deeper understanding of human nature and the consequences of unchecked power. These experiences may affect their relationships and behavior as they grow older.
