Best Answer

If an organism is already well suited to its environment, there is no need for it to change or 'adapt'.

This can be seen in sharks and crocidiles, they have changed very little over thousands of years and are the top predators in their environment, as such they have not changed as they have not had to.

Which is more likely to be true natural selection or evolution?

Evolution, of course. Evolution can happen without natural selection in some cases; drift, flow. Generally though, natural selection causes evolution and then, by definition, would come first.

Why is it the Darwin theory natural selection is nice?

Nice? The theory of evolution by natural selection is the best and best supported explanation for the fact of evolution we have, but it just is and a word such as " nice " would not always fit theory. Google Ichneumon wasp to see that natural selection is not always " nice. "

Would evolution stop if there were no natural selection?

No, but adaptive change would be difficult. Remember, evolution is the change in allele frequency over time in a population of organisms. Mutation, genetic drift, genetic flow and other processes would continue without natural selection.

Why should people believe in evolution?

People should not " believe in " evolution but accept that evolution, the change in allele frequency over time in a population of organisms, is fact. The also need to consider the theory of evolution by natural selection, which explains much about evolution, as one of the most well supported explanatory theories in science. Then they would, if they are intellectually honest, come to accept not only the fact of evolution but the theory of evolution by natural selection. " Believe in " is a term one uses when one can provide no supporting evidence for one's concepts and this does not include evolution and the theory of evolution by natural selection. Which type of natural selection tends to prevent evolution?

I would suppose stabilizing selection could do that. Selecting for the mean morphology and behavior would be somewhat in stasis if the environment did not change.

How would you use evolution natural selection adaptation and fitness in a sentence?

An important mechanism in evolution is natural selection, which allows populations to develop adaptations to changing circumstances based on the fitness landscape of the environment. Nah, still doesn't work. I'm no good at long sentences.

What term can be used to describe natural selection?

Survival of the fittest

Who was the English scientist who proposed the theory known as natural selection?

Charles Darwin's theory of evolution included the natural selection as a means that determined which species would survive and which did not. It remains an open question in the present time.

Does the Theory of Evolution attempt to explain the origin of life?

The theory of evolution by natural selection. No, as however life came about the fact that it evolves is observed and observable and natural selection would still be one of the main drivers of evolution and the only driver of adaptive change.

Which 2 scientists independently proposed natural selection as the mechanism of evolution?

That would be Charles Robert Darwin and Alfred Russel Wallace.

Why you study evolution?

I study evolution because it is the concept that underlies all of biology. Biology would still be natural history without the fact of evolution and the theory of evolution by natural selection is the overarching theory that underpins all of biology while explaining much about the fact of evolution. " Nothing in biology makes sense, except in the light of evolution. " Dobzansky.

What process did Darwin's book suggest that organisms evolve through?

These three ideas seem to run together, so it's important that you are able to distinguish among them. The theory that organisms change over time is evolution. The mechanism by which organisms evolve is natural selection. Survival of the fittest explains how natural selection works.Answer = Natural SelectionThe process of natural selection, of course.
