i would use a large laser that would destroy it in a beam of light.
That depends on where you are on the Earth and where the meteor hits. ________________ Wherever you are on earth, if an object the size of the earth collided directly with us (at that size it would be a rogue planet, I think, rather than a meteor) then certainly all life on earth would come to an end, and likely within minutes.
this doesnt tell us much infact it tells us nothing except that a meteor landed there or a chunk of that meteor landed there
The United States does not have a right to the Israelis' homeland. There is nothing to defend.
A meteor is the streak of light you see in the night sky from a asteroid or meteroid hitting the atmosphere. It is not considered a "meteor" until it enters the earth's atmosphere - therefore you can't really have a meteor in space. However, if you are talking an asteroid or meteroid then they are just rocks floating in space - not really a big deal unless one hits us or hits one of our satellites or spacecraft.
If by your weapons, you mean ours (earths) weapons, then i only believe nuclear missiles are strong enough to defend us, although it would create havoc it would still be able to defend us long enough. Bullets and tank shots are no use at all. So yes, Earths weapons are strong enough to defend an alien attack.
No, because that meteor already hit the earth.

To defend the US from it's enemies.
because it defend us
They defend and fight for us.
Because members of the US military would not follow someone who would try to overthrow the government. Each member of the military has sworn an oath to support and defend the US Constitution. A fundamental mission of the US Military is to defend the Nation's elected officials from any power that would try to change the government without the election process designed by the Constitution. Tenants of the US Constitution trump any orders from superior officers.
