It is two parts. The senate and the house. The senate has 2 members per state for 100 total. They serve 6 years and are the upper house. The second part is the House of Representatives. They are elected for 2 years and each state is divided into districts. The number of Representatives is determined by population. The job of each house is to make laws, approve appointments from the president, and hold hearings when needed.
