You would need extensive information on each individual to find the commonalites in the cases. To ensure the integrity of the final results it would be vital to have accurate material from the onset. Although newpaper archives can be a valuable source of information, for accuracy it would be best to confine your sources to police reports, court transcripts, and information that can be verified.
There is no patron saint specifically for serial killers. Saints are typically recognized for their holiness and virtue, so it is unlikely that a saint would be designated for individuals who commit heinous crimes.
The one with the biggest gun.
Slasher Flicks and movies about serial killers
Mostly serial killers have a rough childhood and the crimes mostly unfold after they reach college or after. Serial killing takes some steps to bring it to a complete blossom. A serial killer that commmits serious junvenille delinquency would be an exception to the rule.
It would be almost impossible to determine how many serial killers the world has ever seen. Accurate records would only cover a couple hundred years. Before legalities and modern record keeping there would be little evidence on which to base the facts. Estimates on more modern killers are frightening. At any given time, in America only, there may be 200 serial killers at work. It would probably be less in other countries(America seems to have more serial killing) but they will be there. In fact it is not uncommon for a killer to change countries. The chance of detection may be smaller if the killer keeps moving. There have been numerous instances where individuals come to America and begin killing or continue killing after having started elsewhere.
The USA. /Actually I think you'll find that it is South Africa( I have researched Serial killers for over 15 years)....... I agree with the above answer, and a close second would be South America. Most have never been caught yet. ( I have researched Serial Killers for more than 20 years-I'm 51 years old) I believe that according to FBI statistics America contributes to apprx. %85 of the world's serial killers. The rest are usually found in other industrialized nations such as Great Britian.
Most experts agree that at any given time, there could be as many as 200 serial killers active in the US alone. World Wide it would increase, of course. The average serial killer can be responsible for up to 20 murders if they are caught. Keep in mind that some of these killers may never be caught. That would put their body count even higher. The average time frame to catch a serial murderer is 18 months. This is much less time than it used to be. With modern forensics and criminal profiling it is taking less time to apprehend such criminals.
I would say it's not that wierd because it can be an interesting topic and i like researching them too.
According to other scientific websites, people all over the world find, "Serial Killers" 99% creepy. They are creepy because they would dress up like its Halloween. They are said that Serial Killers normally kill innocent people. I have no specific reason why.
I would imagine because it is one of the if the not the richest and best country in the world and people have more to kill for.
If you mean a bad neighborhood, no. Many people live in rough neighborhoods, have little money, are abused as children, ect., and still do not become serial killers. There is still much to learn about this kind of killer but a deprived childhood and bad neighborhood will not in and of itself be the cause of serial murder. What is known is this. A combination of bad genes, childhood abuse, and unknown factors are responsible for the modern serial killer. And still there are killers that do not fit the mold. Jeffrey Dahmer is a very good example. Dahmer had two parents that loved him, a middle class upbringing, no abuse that he would admit to and still Dahmer was one of the worst serial killers of modern times. Even Dahmer himself was at a loss as to his behaviour. There have been great strides into the minds of serial killers but there is still much to learn from them. There is always the hope that with understanding there will be a way to predict and ultimately prevent all serial murder.
It is not possible to spot a serial killer based on physical appearance or characteristics. Serial killers often appear normal and are skilled at hiding their true nature. It is important to be cautious and aware of one's surroundings, but jumping to conclusions about someone being a serial killer is not productive.
