I would refuse to sacrifice my child.

I feel that I can safely say that any parent would experience an extreme amout of sadness upon the death of their child. For the rest of their lives, the memory of their child would stay with them. At first, the grief would feel unberable but over time the parents would be able to return to normal life, but never forgetting the loss of their child.
Te sientes como un niño perdido would be the best way to say "You feel like a lost child" in Spanish.
Nope. It would be very selfish and you should feel bad.
Yes you can; as a parent, you do what you feel is best for your child.
Carthage did not believe in, or perform, child sacrifices. That was a rumor created by the Romans so they would have an excuse to fight the Carthaginians and conquer them.

The question is do you really want to make your child feel guilty? isn't it enough that your child has to deal with the fact that his or her parents are separated now? I don't know what others would do or say, but I personally wouldn't tell my child that if it ever happened. Plus you shouldn't really cry or feel bad about it... im sure your child loves you the same way he or she loves their father...
You would expect yourself getting attached to the child. You will soon feel like it is your own. Exspeciously when the child calls you its mother.
