When light hits a mirror , it will be reflected symetrically to a normal .

Tangents are not really used to figure out the light bending . If the light hits a round surface ( Still a mirror ) , you must draw a tangent and the normal of this tangent .

Then , you work it out just like if it was a plane mirror .

You cannot calculate light bending on something else than a mirror, but there is sometime a total reflection on glass or any similar substance . ( Same technique )

It is the bending of light

What causes the bending of light in reflection?

The bending of light in reflection is caused by the difference in the speed of light in the two different mediums (air and a denser material) at the interface. This change in speed leads to refraction, resulting in the bending of light rays at the boundary.

What is the word scientists use for the bending of light?

Scientists use the term "refraction" to describe the bending of light as it passes through different mediums, such as air, water, or glass. This bending occurs due to the change in the speed of light as it travels through substances with varying densities.

What is the process of light bending called?

The process of light bending is called refraction. This occurs when light passes through different mediums, such as air to water, causing the light to change direction.

What does refraction means in terms of rainbows?

Refraction of bending lightrefraction means the bending of light, and the refraction of light in a prism causes to 'split' light in all its colors (that we can see and not see)Refraction is the bending of light. The bending of light is defined mathematically by Snell's law. The degree of bending through rain drops produces the various colors of the rainbow.
