Personally, 9.5/10. This movie appeals to teenagers and adults of all religions and races. (My favorite part being when Private Daniel Jackson quotes Psalms 144)
The beginning at Normandy is an accurate account, and it shows the value of human life.
The rank of a military member, most likely Army e-1
Yes. Private is a rank. So you could call a soldier by his rank or by his rank and name, such as "Private Jones". Not all soldiers would be called "private" unless that is their rank. Others may be called "Sergeant" or "Lieutenant" or "Captain".
Actually, a grade 5 private is Marine lingo for someone who countinually loses rank.
P=Protestant Pvt. would be Private Pfc. would be Private, 1st Class
An enlisted rank in the U.S. Army that wears a single strip on the uniform would be a Private, specifically a Private (E-1) or Private First Class (E-2). This is the lowest rank in the Army and is denoted by a single chevron or strip on the uniform.
The lowest rank was a private.
Corporal, a two-striper, but a corporal is an NCO like a sergeant, and a private is not. You "skipped" a rank! Private First Class is directly above a private

private
No.
"The Longest Day" was the black & white movie that came closest to presenting the events of D-Day in its entirety. It is almost like a documentary as it had sub-titles that identified each of the commanders by name, rank and command. It was based upon Cornelius Ryan's book of the same name that was based upon research and interviews of veterans. Saving Private Ryan showed graphically the horror of warfare at the time.
There isn't a specific rank attributed to it. Generally, a tank gunner would be Private (E1) through Specialist (E4). Field Artillery would be more the same. There is a Gunnery Sargeant in the Marines.
