Performance is excellent, rapid acceleration for quite a large vehicle, excellent roadholding, but above all else, superb reliability. Everything on the carina is twice as strong as the parts fitted to other cars, hence their widespread popularity as taxis. The Achilles heel is the lambda sensor, mounted forard on the exhaust manifold. Tis part fails, but is easily replaced. Suspension, driveline and brakes are super durable, the interior is very hard wearing and where I live, there are many examples running around with 250-350k miles, still in everyday use.
