In the case of belt drive, following is the procedure.
1) Mount drive pulley on the motor shaft through key or screw.
2) Mount driven pulley on the driven shaft through key or screw.
3) Check axial alignment of the pulleys along a straight line, maintaining slight slackness of one of the pulleys.
4) Mount the belt on one of the pulleys and turn the other slowly to get into the groove.
5) Tighten the pulley which was left loose.
6) Test the drive with an inching motion.
