A "cup" is a unit of volume. A "gram" is a unit of mass. The units cannot be compared. It's like asking how many inches in a degree. If, and only if, the substance being measured is water, or some substance with the same density as water, you can accurately convert cups to grams. A "gram" is defined as the mass of one cubic centimeter (or one milliliter) of water (technically, at atmospheric pressure and 20oC temperature, but the density of water doesn't change much as temperature and pressure vary, at least in any environment encountered on Earth, so this can still be used as a close approximation even if the temperature and pressure requirements aren't exactly met). So, for water, a gram is the same as a milliliter. There are approximately 236.6 milliliters in a cup. So, for water, there are approximately 236.6 grams in a cup.
