The chemical formula for water is H2O.

There is not a different formula for the different physical forms of water, however, if you need to specify you can write each as follows (the letter in brackets denotes the state):

  • liquid form: H2O(l)
  • solid form: H2O(s)
  • gas/vapour: H2O(g)
