Known issue with these devices. You have to open the device and clean the internal mirrors. Start with removing both side panels. Remove side parts (2 screws on each side, can be moved to the back and removed).Unscrew 4 screws (2 on each side) and remove the scanner/button unit (separating the upper part) Remove the screws holding the scanner unit, remove front buttons. Remove top cover so scanner unit (black) becomes visible. Remove black top cover on the scanner unit. Clean all mirrors. They are fragile. Front surface mirrors, so the mirror part is in front of the mirror, not (as a normal mirror) behind the glass. Due to continues heating/powering up, these mirrors become dirty. (You'll notice a 'white dust' on it). Clean them carefully and reassemble the printer. Most likely, it now will pass the scanner warming up procedure.
Laserjet 3030 scanner bulb warming up Problems
No. Laser light is coherent. Light bulb light is not.
You can't. Its a special bulb. Either get the scanner repaired/replaced if its within warranty or buy a new one (they're quite cheap nowadays)
It is very easy to replace the scanner bulb and is similar to that of a HP scanner bulb replacement you can refer this for further assistance http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&taskId=110&prodSeriesId=27564&prodTypeId=15179&objectID=bpu01334
Yes. There is a huge difference between a 1-watt laser and a 1-watt light bulb. A 1-watt laser will burn a hole in your eye.
