sometimes when they are too ripe they can have little or no flavor, but not ripe enough will be a tart/sour taste. You can usually tell a blueberry that is not ripe enough when it has a light greenish ring around the top

It could be your taste buds. Or it could be the quality of blueberry.

It could also be the temperature of the fruit. Many fruits are kept refrigerated and, if eaten before they return closer to room temperature, will be nearly tasteless. This is a common problem with fruits which have a high water-content; it's particularly noticeable with tomatoes.

Nope... nothing to do with temperature, ripeness, modern farming techniques, etc. You and I have the same genetics. I can't taste them either. It's a huge issue between me and my wife who rags on me every time we cross a blueberry. You and I aren't idiots we know what ripe and unripe fruit is. When I eat a blueberry it's just a small bag of sugar water/Gelatin. Zero taste otherwise. My father... best tasting thing in the world. I know what he means because that's what raspberries and peaches do for me. But blueberries... nothing.

I like blueberries because of their juicy fruity taste, if they seem bitter to you, try putting a bit of sugar on them. Blueberries are good for you and rich in antioxidents.
