hi im a first time user so let me just give you the specs and prob
bought a new gigabyte x58 ud7 with i7 920 6 gig ram sapphire 2 gig video card and whatever elsa
anyways was working great for a week didn't over clock it built it installed windows and away i went a week later computer just stopped working started doing a cycle of on for 3 seconds off for 3 seconds and so on and so forth , took it apart found that the motherboard had burned left a black mark on my case ordered a new board installed it ,had the same problem changed everything at the shop except the i7 chip , question how can it be that my motherboard and chip both got fried???? and i hoping when i get my new chip its not also the ram the video card whatever elsa and yes i forgot 2 mention i did use a new psu for the test. thank you hope 2 hear from someone soon , and maybe im not the only 1 with this problem?( could it be a power surge? or something up with my power maybe ground(earth wire) didn't function and i was unaware of it)?
The X58 is a high performance chip-set that supports the Core i7 processors, the P45 is more a mainstream desktop chip-set.

No, you can't. Gigabyte-GA990FXA-UD3 uses AM3 socket and supports AMD processors only. While 2600K is Intel processor and it uses socket LGA1155.
