Sorry - a novel is defined as over 40,000 words. Typically, there are 250 typed words per page, so a novel must have more than 160 pages -- you have a short story.
There's nothing wrong with writing short stories. Your problem is you've set your goal a bit too high -- instead of saying "I want to write a novel" try saying "I want to write a good story."
