I checked the brake light fuse and it is ok and the gear shifter still won't move out of park .?

It may well be that the brake light switch has gone faulty If you can, remove the wiring connector block from the switch and bridge the two terminals in the switch connector block. this will bypass the switch as a temporary measure Make sure the ignition is switched on after you have bridged the connections.
