that smell will never go away. i used to throw up almost every time i smelled mine. i also have this problem! my orthodontist said that scrubbing it with dish soap and a different brush instead of toothpaste and toothbrush cleans it better. i haven't tried this myself, but maybe it'll help you!
I usually brush it with my toothpaste and then rinse it for 5 min. in mouthwash about 3 times a week. Good luck!
Okay, so I had this pretty disgusting retainer with white stuff caked on it. No matter what i did ( toothpaste with toothbrush) nothing came off. So this is what i did. Get some toothpaste. ( like crest) Squeeze a small strip into a cup full half full of water. Then, find some other toothpaste and do the same thing. If you had braces, then you probably got dental fluoride. Squeeze some of that too. Fill the glass with cold water and stir. Add your dirty retainer. Leave for about one hour. When it is done your retainer will be covered in a weird mixture. Get a toothbrush and scrub it with cold water. You should have a clean retainer!
No. Your retainer should not have glue.
All retainers should be cleaned properly. You can clean your retainer with a toothbrush, however, we advise using specialized retainer cleaner (or denture cleaner). When brushing and flossing, fixed retainers should be cleaned as well. Additionally, we advise against washing your retainer in hot water to expose it to extreme heat as this could cause the retainer to stretch into a different form.
you don't
I clean my retainer with my toothbrush and Listerine. There are tablets you can buy that you put in water and they dissolve and clean the retainers. Just whatever you do, DO NOT use any kind of heat to clean them! Using heat can misshapen your retainers!
See, What will a retainer do.
* It does not hurt to get a retainer * Before you get it, they have to make impressions of your mouth which is not painful at all * You need to brush your retainer at night * The retainer covers your top teeth put has a wire in front of your incisors(top teeth) * You get to choose the design/color of your retainer
That might be a tricky thing to do but heres a few ways if you can't get a new one. First the challenging part might be getting it back. First take some hot water and pour dish soap into a bowl along with the water. Soak your retainer for a few minutes. Then rinse it in cold water. After that to get ALL the germs out. Then take an old toothbrush and SCRUB it clean. Put more soap on the tooth brush. Then let your retainer air dry. Then it should be back to normal :) If you have small crack sin your retainer take a toothpick, a paperclip, or safety pin and push the dirt ou tout it with one of theese pointy tools.
A retainer is used for straiting your teeth if its messed up.
You'd probably break the retainer, another pair would be best.
