Cause the gas tank houses the (prepare yourself for this one) gas!

Is is generally believed the pump is on it's way out, but this isn't always the case.
Did you put the thermostat in backwards? I would check to see where the steam is coming from. I had to change out small hoses for the same problem with mine.
are the cooling fans coming on
te alternaor belt may be slipping causing the squeaking as it returns charge to the battery
Is your fan coming on?
