Often, we must trust people to be capable of making their own choices and living with them. If your friend has heard you out and still has not changed their ways, you can only pray for them. Often, people who know the good and the evil but choose the evil must suffer some personal tragedy or great suffering for them to re-evaluate their lives, and these God sends in His good time to Whom He will. The best way to "witness" is by the example of your own life. Often, sending words and pushing books at them will only drive them away and they may resent you for it or end the friendship. Thus it is best for you to explain why you do not support their actions so that they understand, but to be there as a friend. Hopefully, the example of the way you live will do the preaching for you. This may take a long time and you may never see the fruit, but as long as people have a good example in their life, there is hope. Of course, much prayer and penance for their conversion is also a good idea.
