The toner powder in a laser printer is sealed inside a toner cartridge, and it is the wholecartridge that is replaced. A mono laser has a single cartridge, while a colour laser will have a cartridge for each colour.

It doesnt produce its own color it uses a cartridge that has color ink.
Official capacity is 8ml but better to keep it at around 5ml for large cartridge. If the ink overflows, it will ruin your printer.
the HP 23 ink cartridge is a tri colour printer ink that is quite popular on the mark. This cartridge was adapted and invented recently, in the year 2005.
If there is a hole in the top of the cartridge (drill a small hole if there isn't one all ready) and turn the cartridge upside down to drain. Why would you want to drain the colour?
Printers can work without any cartridges in them. However, to print anything, at least one colour or one black cartridge must be installed.

Every pixel of the picture is stored in the computer as a stream of data. The data tells the computer (and subsequently the printer) what colour and how bright to display (or print) each pixel. The hardware inside the printer (and the circuitry in the cartridge) converts the data into instructions for the printer cartridge so it uses the correct mix of colours to generate the printed photograph.
This will vary from printer to printer. For more detailed instructions we would need to know which printer you use. Most colour printers have a black cartridge and a number of colour cartridge. In this case you should go into the printer properties and set it for black and white printing or grey scale printing. Some colour printers have an interchangeable cartridge. You would need to remove the colour cartridge and replace it with a compatible black cartridge.
Every printer is different, but most show the ink levels that you can see by going to printer properties on your computer. Also, if the copies are "faded," you probably need to replace the black and/or color ink.
If you use a printer where the three colour cartridges are used to produce black, then the colour cartridges would be used up very quickly. If the three colours are in a fixed unit, then if one colour runs out, the whole cartridge would need to be replaced, even if there were still plenty of colour in the other cartridges. Therefore, it is cheaper to use three individual colour cartridges, that can be replaced separately as each colour is used up, and a separate black cartridge. Black cartridges tend to be larger and cheaper than colour cartridges.
