I have an evergreen shrub about 18 feet tall and 10 feet wide i'd like to trim it as much as possible how much can i cut it back and when is the best time of year i am in long island ny thanks?

Most evergreen shrubs are best pruned in the Spring. Cut it back as much as you like but remember pruning encourages more growth.
