Yes the 117V light bulbs will burn out almost immediately (unless you run them on a dimmer and never bring the voltage past half.
The European bulbs have the slightly different threads from American bulbs. In Europe Edison threads 27mm, 14 mm and 10 mm. in the US 26 mm and 12 mm. Hope something fits.
