Lol, I've been having the same problem recently. About 3 and a half months ago I cut my hair super-short. Army short with a little mohawk and then I bleached it blonde. I have been shaping my bangs every month with a razor cutter, keeping the ends trimmed and healthy, and using loads of conditioner to keep it from going poofy after I shampoo. What "stage" is your hair length at btw?

Right now my hair is deep red, covers my ears on both sides, and I have some cute pixie bangs, but the back is creeping down my neck. Yes, it looks very "mullet-like" sometimes. I tend to just wear a tight-fitting, cute beanie outside and the hair in the back kinda flips up. When I take it off the hair keeps the shape, very surfer-ish and flippy (and also very straight without needing to use a flat-iron). Also, you can try over-styling the bangs or adding some texture with a little trim or razor-cutting now and then. I know it seems like the OPPOSITE thing to do when you are trying to grow your hair, but fresh ends always look great, and are much more noticeable on short hair.

If you have a stylist that you trust, maybe have him/her cut the back short again for you. This will give the hair time to catch up with the sides and front of your hair, and it will appear much more even and blended. Also, try going darker, or lighter. If you're comfortable with dyeing your hair, try something new. It may take away from the silly mullet in the back if you are commited to growing it.

I am going to stick it out for a little while until i can manage to put it up with bobbypins, and eventually a ponytail. Hopefully by Christmas. Good luck! ;)

Q: I recently cut my hair short and it's already growing out to the point where it looks like a mullet. I'm not sure how to style it now. Any tips?
