You can do whatever you want of course, but do be aware that that's a particularly difficult one to keep from infection. Many people (even people who have successfully gotten many other piercings) have trouble. So it's not a good "starter piercing." That being said, any piercing will be fine if done well by a good piercer and well taken care of.

With any piercing, once you poke a hole in it it's done and will never be the same so think before you pierce. Are you sure this is what you want? Once it's done....it's done.

Yes a straight guy can get a vertical tragus surface piercing without looking feminine. A lot of straight men have them.
