I found my art school through Art Institutes. They have a good directory of a wide variety of schools, I am sure you'd find a lot of useful information there.

Well I would think it would be difficult for someone to try to get into the fashion designing without any formal training. There are schools out there such as FIDM/The Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising who specialize in careers in the fashion industry and even offer Fashion Design as a major. Many famous fashion designers started out at FIDM and really benefited from their education there and made awesome connections within the fashion industry that led to jobs! If you have talent, drive and are passionate about fashion, then it sounds like you have what it takes to be a fashion designer.
