A key sentence is usually the first or second sentence of the article. It explains or draws in the reader regarding what the article is about. Then after that it goes on to explain the subject or what the article is about. It is the sentence that draws the reader in. A key sentence in a paragraph tells what the paragraph is all about it may be found at the beginning of the paragraph in the middle,or at the end of the paragraph.
Introductory paragraph
A deductive paragraph is a paragraph in which the topic sentence is stated first. The first sentence of a deductive paragraph should be the topic sentence.
One way is to read the first paragraph of the article, the author usually has a summary what the article is going to talk about. You can also read the first sentence of each paragraph to gain some more of the key points.
Tomb-stoning is when you are making your page and two different headlines for two different articles line up.. for example, if your one article's headline starts at the top left of your page and is one inch thick and the headline for your second article lines up exactly with the first article headline, that is tombstoning. The term "tombstoning" comes from the idea of a graveyard where all the tombstones line up and match. In journalism, tombstoning your headline is not attractive to the eye of the reader so therefore possible solutions include : making one head 1 inch, making the second 1/2 and inch... making one headline 2 lines long, the other just on line.. putting one headline at the top of your page and running your article horizontally not vertically and start your second article further down the page.
