I was running up the stairs a while back and missed a step and hit my shin pretty hard. I now have a bump on my leg which I'm assuming is a bone chip. Is there anyway to get the bone piece out?

It may not, necessarily, be a bone chip. Only an x-ray ordered by a doctor could confirm that. It is also possible that you just bruised the bone, this can leave a bump and a painful spot that will last for quite some time. I've done it, before, myself.
