Probably the most famous street outside of Rome is the Via Appia or Appian Way. However in Rome itself the most famous street is/was probably the Vic Sacra, or Sacred Way. This was the street that led from the Pomerium to the Capitol and was used for religious processions and ceremonials. It was also the street that a triumphing general would ride along, displaying his loot. It can still be traced today.
