* It focuses on a few, charasmatic endangered species * genetic diversity may have sunk too low to be regenerated * costly, diverts resources from much more cost-effective ecosystem and habitat conservation measures * gives false sense that battle against extinction is being won * what if the habitat no longer exists, or cannot be expected with any confidence to exist in 200 years time. What point then ? * NRE 220 students often react negatively to the degree of handling/intervention associated with captive breeding, and apparently would prefer to see species go extinct. Really?
I saw this question and its the best one I've seen all day!
Ok so a major problem is that if they don't do it when the animal is young, its already adapted to people giving it its necessities and when it goes into the wild, they have to start taking care of themselves which will eventually lead to death. Once an animal is in captivity long enough there is no hope for that creature but that when they will release it, hope that it finds a mate who will take care of it (extreamly rare but still possible) so that they can continue on a chain.
I don't know if you had this in mind but on topic of endangered animals that only live in captivity now, they will never be able to adapt to the wild again because over time their natural instincts will dull from being constantly taken care of.
I also love the fact that its non biased and gives me a lot to work with.
Because a lot of animals are teritorial and if released into the teritory of a similar animal may find its self chalenged in making a living.
Animals may become used to people, which can make it harder to reintroduce animals to the wild. Animals may become dependent on the zoo keepers and may not be able to function in the wild.
the chemicals soak through your sweat in your hands and into your animal, its really cruel to do that to your animal and because they are so small and the drugs are so hard you can kill your animal. maybe a stroke or two, but try to avoid it at all costs.
Animal breeding is done to make sure a pool of genes will remain in certain group of organism. It is so no hybrid crossing will happen, only pure breeds would reproduce. It is for people to get desired results. Example, Animal breeding of chihuahua means all the dogs coming from the one breeding it is chihuahua =) hope it helps!
Too many answers for this. Skat will blanche out in the sun, so it's hard to determine which type of animal without also knowing skat shape, size, consistency, etc. Also would need to know what part of the country you're in.
A dead animal smells bad. There are two main reasons for this.... The bacteria that have lived within the animals stomach - quite harmlessly - during its life lose their source of sustenance once the animal stops feeding and so promptly turn into cannibals. The guts of the animal are eaten away and excrement leaks out. When a body dies all the muscles relax and so the muscles that control the bladder release any fluid that they have been retaining.
because they eat hard things, like seeds, so their jaws must be hard to break
For he'd held her captive for so long, it was entirely too hard to grasp freeing her.
A captive bolt gun is a device for stunning livestock prior to slaughter. The gun has a rod (the bolt) that is attached so that it can move, but not leave the gun (captive) t is placed against the forehead of the animal and triggered. The animal is instantly rendered unconscious, and may be humanely slaughtered.
you will never know its so hard to look them up you find it will be hard
Well, since there are no captive humpback whales, it'd be fairly hard to find one to train. So I say no.
Animal Jam - 2003 Not So Moving was released on: USA: 2003
Captive Curse comes out on June 28th, 2011! However this is according to Wikipedia so it could be incorrect!
It is hard to explain so I learned it by watching it on YouTube
well any animal can be a little bit of a pain and hard to take care of so i would say yes it is hard to take care of.
5,ooo dollars wow so hard
It would take several years and a shortage on luxaries.
I think so. But she comes really randomly, and sometimes hard to find.
The Mantis Shrimp punches so hard, it boils the water around it's claw.
