If helium is lighter than air, then does it eventually float to the top of the atmosphere?

Updated: 11/30/2021

Is the outermost part of the atmosphere all of the helium that floated to the top, or does it escape into outer space at some point? Does something cause it to come back down? Where does the helium ultimately go?
