Your child's activity level may be because he/she is sleep deprived, which creates a vicious cycle of poor sleep & hyper days. I know this seems counter intuitive, but "sleep begets sleep"- meaning the more sleep you help your baby get, the calmer your child and more likely he/she will be to sleep better at naps & bedtime. If you are one of the those parents who feels guilty putting their child to sleep, STOP! Think about how relaxing it is for you to fall into a peaceful sleep at the end of the day or enjoy a wonderful nap. This is a life skill you want to teach your child, not a punishment. Good sleep habits are part of a healthy family life & will serve all of you well for a lifetime. Just like you wouldn't eliminate vegetables from your baby's diet, don't deprive him/her of sleep just because he/she seems not to like it. Which ever method you decide, it's important to stick with it! Don't give up!!! Set the bedtimes & nap times that work for you and your baby make it a family priority to stick to them. Develop whatever ritual works for you (books, baby massage, a few minutes of looking out the window and talking the trees, whatever!) then put your baby down. Remember, it's okay to let your child cry. You are not abandoning him/her, you aren't hurting them, etc. You are simply providing your child with a safe, cozy space & enough time to wind down so he/she can sleep. Every day will be better. As your baby learns the routine, he/she will become more comfortable, cry less & have much calmer days. Just remember, it may take a couple weeks for this to work (though probably just a couple days) just don't give up. It's like any skill we try to learn ( a new sport, driving a stick shift, etc), it won't come overnight but it will work!

What should you do if i've accidentally been taking the blue active pills during the week i should be taking sugar pills?

First, be reassured that you haven't increased your risk of pregnancy if you haven't missed pills earlier in the month. But I can't figure out where you got active pills during the week you should have been taking sugar pills. If you mean you started the next pack early, then you will need a refill a week earlier than you thought. Continue with that new pack, taking one pill per day. If you had a week of active pills left in last month's pack, then you must have missed pills that month, and you may be at risk for pregnancy. Contact your health care provider to learn about your options.
