There would still be Christianity even if Jesus had not died on the cross. There was still Christianity BEFORE Jesus was crucified. Jesus died on the cross for our sins.

The crucifixion of Jesus is a foundational event in Christianity as it symbolizes his sacrifice for the sins of humanity. However, without the crucifixion, it is possible that Christianity may have developed in a different way, centered around other teachings and beliefs of Jesus during his lifetime. The crucifixion was pivotal in shaping the faith and theology of Christianity, but not necessarily the only path to its formation.

Is Jesus in Christianity different to Jesus in Judaism?

Extremely different. It is one of the big differences between the two religions. In Christianity, Jesus is the Messiah, the savior. From the Jewish perspective, Jesus may or may not have lived but at most, he would have been a false prophet. Jesus plays absolutely no role in Judaism.

How old was Mary when Jesus was Crucified?

You can estimate her age from Scripture. She was a virgin when Jesus was conceived in her - probably a girl well under 20 years old. And Jesus was about 30 years old when he began his ministry which he continued for about 3 years until he was crucified. So Mary would have been about 50 years old then. There is no definite age for her in Scripture.

What does the phrase You are crucified with Christ nevertheless you live yet not you but Christ liveth in you means?

In the book of Galatians, chapter 2 verse 20, Paul writes; "I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives within me." Paul is telling the people in the Church in Galatia that since he has accepted Jesus Christ as his savior, Christs being crucified was for Paul's sins. (Ours too) Those of us that believe that Jesus is the Son of God and that he died to cleanse us of our sins, well our sins have been crucified with Jesus on the cross. So in a sense, we have been crucified with Christ. Our sins were taken upon Jesus. In regards to the "I no longer live, but Christ lives within me." Paul is saying that his old life or old ways are dead to him. He now has Jesus in his heart and that his life is lived according to Jesus. Jesus is in charge of his life. Jesus is in my life too. This doesn't mean that I or Paul are perfect. By no means. But since we have Christ in our lives, we strive to live out our lives as Jesus would have us.

How many people were crucified alongside Jesus?

According the the Christian gospels, two other men were crucified with Jesus. These two men are variously described as thieves, criminals or rebels. Some fundamentalist Christians interpret the Gospels so that there were four men crucified with Jesus because of the different ways in which the men are described and because they take the Bible absolutely literally. So because one gospel says two "criminals" were crucified with Jesus and another says two "thieves" were crucified with Jesus there must have been four. Most people dismiss this and interpret the gospels more sensibly as there being only two other men crucified with Jesus.

What does a cross and thorns twined around it mean?

It symbolizes the death of Jesus. Jesus was the messiah that the Jews had been waiting for. Jesus was crucified on a cross, and he was wearing a crown of thorns.
