Thus, if a cell lacks centrioles, it is unable to reproduce i.e mitosis fails to take place.

∙ 14y agoNo. The microtubules that elongate the cell and pull chromosomes apart originate at the centrioles. Without movement of the chromosomes to the opposite sides of the cell, you cannot have mitosis.

∙ 9y agoThe absence of centrioles would affect cells in a very hug manner. These are structures which are essential for cell division which means that in their absence the cells would not reproduce.
