By the definition "the amount a dog ages in a year", the answer is simple: 1 year.
By the definition "the equivalent portion of a human's lifetime", for larger breeds it's about 9 and for smaller ones about 13 (according to Wikipedia).
The popular formula "1 dog year equals 7 human years" (or vice versa) is inaccurate.

∙ 12y ago7. every year in human years is 7 years in dog years .a one year old dog in dog years would be one year old but a dog ages seven years for every human year.so if the puppy was born today and you have owned him for one year he would actually be seven years old.you might want to check with a vet because i also heard that only goes for the first year of the dogs life. I'm not quoting this ,it just something i heard from anothedr source
