my dog got caught 2 days ago pure accident my male dog has been kept away from her but got to her and was stuck on her when i tried to pull him off i spoke to the vet and the vet said she will be fine with the puppys but we need to care of her through the pregnancy hope this helps

Depends on the breed. Some dogs are longer lived than others. subsequently some dogs who are 8 years old are closer to the natural end of their life cycle so a pregnancy could put more stress on them. Other dogs of 8 years are in the prime of their life and so would be fine to breed. A phone call to your local Animal shelter or ASPCA would go a long way in getting the right answer for your dog.

If the dog is intact (not spayed or neutered), yes 8 years old is not too old for a Chihuahua to be fertile and capable of having puppies.
