If a dr runs a test for temazepam will it show up as a benzodiazepam or as temazepam?

If the test includes benzodiazepines(valium/diazepam, Ativan/lorazepam, xanax, temazepam etc...it WILL show up on a drug test. If the test is just for opiates or illicit substances like ETOH(alcohol), or marijuana(THC) then it won't show up. If you have a prescription for Restoril/temazepam a positive test shouldn't be an issue and (if it's for an employer, the drug company will probably call you directly and ask for proof your authorized to take this medicine. If a prescription for the suvstance is confirmed thru your MD or pharmacist, then the drug testing lab will report a "clean" test due to patient confidentiality laws.

∙ 14y agoIf he runs a blood test for temazepam, the lab will test for temazepam and it will show the physician the serum level of the drug in nanograms per milliliter of temazepam. If he is running a toxicology screen on your blood or on your urine, the test, depending on the lab, may only show that a benzodiazepine or benzodiazepine metabolites are present and in the case, the physician may follow up with more specific testing or refer a specimen already collected for further testing to identify the specific drug.
