As long as it is for a legitimate reason you should have no problem having your child taken away or being considered unfit to care for a child. You should be ok.

If you committed suicide you would be a unfit father because you would be dead. I assume you mean if you attempt suicide. It does not automatically make you a unfit father at all. If you have dealt with the problem that made you want to kill yourself you are like anyone else. We go through many things in life and can't always be on top and when we get back to normal life and enjoy it again the child should have the right to see that parent. It might be slow in the beginning or with supervision but it's a start. If you have a clear bill of health from a doctor/psykologist they have no reason to not trust you.
