What is the function of the recycle bin in the computer?

If you delete a file from your computer, it goes straight into the recycle bin. Some people think that once it has been sent to the recycle bin, it has been terminated but it just stays in the recycle bin and if you want to get that file back then you can get it by restoring it from the recycle bin.
