The one (possible) exception would be something like an engagement ring. Courts have generally ruled that an engagement ring is a conditional gift, and doesn't legally become the bride's property until the marriage (and therefore she has to give it back if the marriage is cancelled). This isn't ALWAYS the case, though, so you may have a shot even there.
