No, but this means you have a Purple Pincher Hermmie. I have one too, his name is Taco<3. But, anyways, to tell if you're Hermmie is a boy or girl you will have to look closely when it is out of it's shell a bit. There will be a hole at the base of its back set of legs ( not sure what side.. ) If it were to be a female. If it doesn't have these holes you are an owner of a Purple Pincher Male Hermit Crab! ∙ 14y agoNo; claw color has no bearing on hermit crab gender. Female crabs can be identified by gonopores (little holes) on their fifth pair of legs (but the crab has to be willing to come out far enough for you to see them).

∙ 12y agoyes. purple pincher crabs, in the right conditions, will mate. you need to darken the crabitat as much as possible, and there must be a saltwater pool for the mother to put her eggs in. it will take a few weeks of them doing the mating dance.

On a Male hermit crab there are no holes. To check-get your hermit crab out and hold it's shell up. Make sure the shell is facing towards the ceiling and the hermit crab's body is facing torwards the floor. while the hermit crab is dangling upsidown you are able to see underneath the legs where the gonopores might be.
