I had a similar problem check to see if the hazard light switch is in the full OFF position I just read this bit a bout the hazzard light switch being in the off position, I went out and checked it and found that it was in the off position. But, after turning it off then on then off again i noticed that the hazzards did not come on which led me to check the hazzard fuse which was blown which also doubled for the stop lights. Thanks again. I spent about four hours trouble shooting replaced bulbs, replaced a relay and was just about ready to take it to the dealer. Who knows how long or how much money that would have cost me . Thank God for you and wikianswers.
For an automatic transmission, the switch is part of the Neutral Safety Switch. I have a '95 Camry and my switch works about 10% of the time. My mechanic has checked out the alignmnet and it is ok, so it looks like the switch contact is at fault. Price check with a local supplier said $238 for the part. I am seriously considering a manual override switch for the lights. That is too much money to turn a light on!

The switch is part of the Park and Neutral safety switch for automatic transmission and cost close to $200 dollars, and is located in the transmission close to the shift gear cable. Now if you have a manual transmission then the cost is less money about $20 dollars because is a single switch and is close behind the starter.
