Comment from the person who asked - I'm researching computer hardware for a new computer I'm constructing, and in my past experience, two monitors has always been a great plus.

I would like to have the two monitors line up horizontally; however, two 20" widescreen monitors is just a bit pricey for my purposes, and so I am aiming for a widescreen monitor and a normal resolution (4:3 aspect ratio).

What is the formula to find the diagonal of a rectangle?

The diagonal of a rectangle is the third and longest side of a triangle with sides the same as those of the rectangle, so its length is the square root of the sum of the squares of the lengths of the sides of the triangle, (Pythoagoras' Theorem) which are also the sides of the rectangle. If the rectangle is 3 inches by 4 inches, then the diagonal is the square root of 3 squared (= 9) and 4 squared (= 16) so the diagonal is the square root of 16 + 9 = 25, giving it the length of 5 inches.

What is the diagonal measurement from one corner of the screen to the other?

The diagonal measurement of a screen is determined using the Pythagorean theorem, where the length and width of the screen are the two sides of a right triangle. The diagonal (D) can be calculated using the formula ( D = \sqrt{(length^2 + width^2)} ). For example, a 24-inch screen has a diagonal measurement of 24 inches, which means the distance from one corner of the screen to the opposite corner is 24 inches.
