Anion.
protons and electrons
Actually elements are made of one type of atom. In an atom, there are three particles: protons, neutrons and electrons. Then, there are many more particles making up the protons, neutrons and electrons. These are the quarks. They are so far the smallest part of an element. :)

The number of protons in an atom determines its identity as a specific element. Changing the number of protons would change the element. Neutrons and electrons can be added or removed without changing the identity of the element since they do not affect the element's chemical properties.
A covalent bond; chlorine is found as Cl2.
Protons. All atoms of a given element have the same number of protons in their nucleus, which determines the element's identity.
An element is a type of atom. It is made up of varying numbers of protons, neutrons, and electrons, but not technically "different matter."
An element is a substance that is composed of atoms that are all of one type. Every atom, in turn, consists of at least two types of particles, protons and electrons. All of the atoms in a sample of an element have the same number of protons in them. It's a lot more complicated than this but this is a good start.
proton you can change the number of neutrons and electrons and still have the same element
An atom with more electrons than protons is called an anion and has a negative charge. Conversely, an atom with fewer electrons than protons is called a cation and has a positive charge. These charged atoms are formed through the process of gaining or losing electrons.
An element is the type of substance it is, for example, oxygen, hydrogen, etc. An atom is the combined particle consisting of electrons spinning around a nucleus, which is made up of protons and neutrons. The number of protons in an atom, not element, determines the type of element it is. If the atom looses a proton, then the element changes to a different one.
an atom is the basic unit of life. it is composed of protons, neutrons, and electrons. an element is composed of a single type of atom (for example: pure gold is made up of atoms containing exactly 79 protons and 79 electrons...the number of neutrons varies depending on if the atoms are isotopes)
