It depends on what has caused the twins in your family. Having identical twins is a random event, and so there is no genetic or inheritable cause for that. So if there are identical twins in your family, then you are no more likely than anyone else to have twins.

If, however, you have non-identical twins in your family, then this could be due to hyperovulation, which can be inherited. This is when a woman is more likely to release multiple eggs during her ovulation cycle, and so a man inheriting this gene will not affect his own chance of having twins. It could effect a woman's chances, but it's still not a sure thing.

The chance of having non-identical twins can run through genetics or be affected by the age of the mother. So the more people in your family tree that have twins, the more likely you are to have twins. However, twins can occur by chance, to someone who's family tree has no cases of twins, or from IVF. You do not have to have twins in your family line to give birth to twins. The chance of having identical twins is 1 in 285 in all human genetic groups.

Of course, anything is possible. But, most usually, twins skip generations. So, a twin may be the grandparent of twins, rather than the parent.

I am a fraternal twin what are the odds of me having twins?

its not likely that you will have twins then... normally you will not have a chance of having twins unless your mother side of the family has a history of twins it matter if you dads side does or not and also if you are over the age of 35 years old. Most likely if your siblings are twins the there is a possibility that they them selves or their children will have twins..

If someone is a twin what are the chances that they are going to give birth to twins?

definitely. It usually skips a generation or more but if someone is a twin, they have a larger chance of giving birth to twins than someone who isn't a twin or comes from a bloodline of twins.

What is the chance of having twins if your grandmother and grandfather were both fraternal twins and your half sister had twins AND you have a half sis and half bro that are fraternal twins?

The mother carries the twin gene and can pass it onto her children. However, only her daughters can give birth to twins. Her sons can inherit the twin gene and pass that onto their daughters, who can give birth to twins. But her sons will only become fathers of twins if their wife has the twin gene. So the chances of having twins if your husband is a twin is not possible unless you have the gene. However, if your grandfather passed the gene to his daughter (your mother) and she passed the gene to you, then, yes you could have twins if your grandfather is a twin.
